Facebook Owner Mark Zuckerberg Becomes $3.8 Billion Richer In Just One Day

In just 24 hours Mark Zuckerberg’s fortune swelled by $3.8 billion.

It happened between 4:05 pm Eastern Time Wednesday, when the Internet giant reported second quarter earnings that dwarfed expectations, and the close of trading the following day.

Facebook (FB) shares soared 30% to their highest level since May 2012, earning the company’s founder and CEO the equivalent of $15.83 million per hour.

.

“A really amazing ride,” is how Matt Miller, editor of Bloomberg Billionaires, describes Zuckerberg’s exploding wealth. “He was one of the richest people in tech right before Facebook’s IPO,” Miller tells The Daily Ticker. “Then Facebook basically tanked for a year… Now he’s richer than Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft (MSFT).”

The 29-year-old Zuckerberg is now number 42 on Bloomberg Billionaire’s list, with a net worth of $16.8 billion. He was number 75 before the latest Facebook earnings were released and so far this year his net worth has swelled by 37%.

Gates and Zuckerberg are amongst several tech leaders on the billionaires list which includes Larry Ellison ( Oracle), Jeff Bezos (Amazon) and Sergey Brin (Google).

Zuckerberg is richer than Nike co-founder Phil Knight, Rupert Murdoch, Brooklyn Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov and Laurene Jobs, the widow of Steve Jobs. Jobs, of course, was one of the people Zuckerberg admired most.

“A lot of the old school tech guys will remain in the top 20, 50, 100 of the world’s richest,” says Miller. Watch the video above for more on Zuckerberg’s big day and his fellow billionaires.

Life is vanity..

All things in life are temporary.
If they are going well, enjoy them, they will not last forever.
If they are going wrong, don't worry, they can't last long either.
Old friends are gold, New friends are diamond!
If u get diamond, don't forget the gold!
To hold a diamond, u always need a base of gold!
Often when we lose hope and think that dis is THE end, God says, "Relax, it's just a bend, not the end!"
When God solves your problem, u hv faith in his ablities; but when God dosen't solve ur problems, He has faith in UR ablities.
A blind asked God: "Can they be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing ur vision!"
When you pray for others God listens to u and blesses them, and somtimes, when u are safe and happy, remember that someone somwhere has prayed for u.
Worrying does nt take away tommorrow's troubles; it takes away today's PEACE.
In spite of all around you, Always put up a smile and not a frown, it brighten someone else's day too.
MAKE TODAY a fruitful ONE.
May God continue to be with us.

MASKMe makes internet useage easy..

MaskMe Lets You Use The Internet Without Putting Your Personal Data at Risk
Share Tweet Share

Our lives are increasingly online, which means a lot of our personal data is at risk.

Abine, an online privacy company, found that the three things users wanted most protection for were emails, phone numbers and credit card numbers. While there are multiple ways that do it separately, Abine attempted to put it all together and came out with MaskMe.

MaskMe is a browser extension available on Chrome and Firefox that provides 'disposable' email addresses, phone numbers, and even credit card numbers. So you can sign up for something with your masked email address and then if it gets too annoying 'throw' the address away. MaskMe describes the feature as 'an unsubscribe button that always works.'

According to DataLossDB, there had been 500 data breach incidents globally in 2013 as of June, and there were 1,612 incidents in 2012. Even if we are obsessively careful about what we put out online, there are bound to be some leaks. MaskMe tries to avoid that.

The logic behind it is a simple one — if there is no data, nothing can be lost. Or if a company does not have your email and credit card number, they can't lose it.

The premium version of the extension does something very similar for credit cards and phone numbers too. For five dollars a month, MaskMe lets users create 'virtual credit cards' that are tied to their real card number. So the seller will never have your card number and the credit card company will only see a payment to Abine. And once you're done with the site, you can get rid of the number.

And it works with phone numbers as well. The extension generates a fake number that you can give out to e-marketers and random stores that you can turn off at any time. They also have Android and iOS apps, though using them requires a premium subscription. The iOS app has the added feature of letting you dial out using the MaskMe generated number.

In case you were wondering, it works. We tried it out and there is certainly something to be said about its ease of access and how much simpler using one system is.

Will you be trying out MaskMe? Let us know in the comments below.

Nothing is Less Productive...

“Nothing is Less Productive Than Doing What Should Not Be Done at All”

ERIC RAVENSCRAFT

The above quote comes from Peter Drucker, a management consultant who wrote on running businesses for the better part of the 20th century.

It's easy to get bogged down in doing things faster, better, and more efficiently. However, it's all for nothing if the thing we're trying to accomplish isn't going to provide any real benefit in the long run. Becoming awesome at a dead-end job, perfecting your toothpick sculpture on your lunch break, or even crafting the perfect comment on a blog might not be worth doing if there's no larger goal that doing those things will help you reach.

The Complete Guide to Twitter Lingo

sometimes we see a tweet containing an acronym or an abbreviation with which we're not very familiar.

If you find yourself in the same situation, then take a look through our handy list for a complete glossary of terms you may come across in tweets.

SEE ALSO: 25 Clever Twitter Keyboard Shortcuts

While some abbreviations and acronyms may be common across all social media sites, others are unique to the microblogging platform. Browse our guide, and be sure to shout out any terms we've missed in the comments below.

@
The "at" sign is used to mention another Twitter account (e.g., @Mashable). Within a tweet, it becomes a link to that user's profile. You may see it used in a geographical sense, such as "I'm @ the office," but this is just text-speak and not Twitter-specific.

#
The hash (or pound) symbol is used to highlight keywords, topics, events or even emotions in a tweet. Using a hashtag turns the word or phrase into a link that lets you see other tweets containing the same tag. Examples: "Loving the #weather," "Watching the #SuperBowl," "Headed to #SXSW," "Long day — feeling #tiredandemotional."

^
The caret, or hat sign, is used to denote a tweet composed and sent by an individual on behalf of a group account used by multiple people (often a company or organization) account. It usually appears at the end of a Tweet and precedes initials, to indicate which user sent the tweet (e.g., ^JS).

$
The dollar sign is used on Twitter before a company's shortened stock market name/code as a kind of financial hashtag. For example, $AAPL (Apple), $GOOG (Google) and $MSFT (Microsoft). Within tweets, codes prefixed with the dollar sign will become links.

AFAIK
"As far as I know."

CC
CC's literal meaning is "carbon copy." As with memos and emails, CC is a way of ensuring a Twitter user sees certain content. Used with an @ mention — for example, "Interesting article - www.urlurl.com - cc @Bob" — it will help draw a Tweet to someone's attention.

CX
"Correction."

DM
Direct message. A way to privately message someone who is following you on Twitter. As the only way to have a confidential conversation on the platform, it's usual to see public tweets with "DM me for more info," or "I'll DM you details," etc.

FF
#FF stands for "Follow Friday," a way to give an endorsement or shout out to other Twitter users by suggesting that people follow them.

HT
Occasionally styled H/T, "hat tip" is a way to give a polite nod to the person who originally shared content you are tweeting. Similar to giving someone a "via" (which is a phrase also used on Twitter) a HT will be followed by an @ mention giving a namecheck. For example, "Useful article - www.urlurl.com. HT @Bob." Some suggest the meaning is "heard through." This is a less common definition, but is pretty much the same sentiment.

ICYMI
"In case you missed it." Often employed when a Twitter user retweets his or her own content from earlier.

MM
"Music Monday" used to be a popular way to suggest music you were currently enjoying or artist recommendations. It isn't used very often now, though you may still see a few #MM tweets at the start of the week.

MT or MRT
Modified tweet or modified retweet. This means the same as "retweet" but used to show that you've edited the original tweet, usually due to space restrictions.

NSFW
"Not safe for work." This term denotes potentially inappropriate or graphic content.

OH
"Overheard." Although in the wider world, OH is more likely to mean "other half," on Twitter, it's a way of reporting a humorous or eyebrow-raising comment.

PRT
Partial retweet. A way of letting people know you've edited a tweet. Can also mean "please retweet."

RLRT
Real life retweet. Similar to OH, RLRT is used when you tweet a notable quote from someone "in real life."

RT
Retweet. Forwarding another user's tweet, usually with an added comment, letting the "RT" abbreviation mark the end of the forwarder's comment and the start of the original tweet, e.g., "Must watch! RT @Bob: This video is cool www.urlurl.com."

SMH
Shake/shaking my head. An expression of disbelief or disappointment. Can also be used to express puzzlement — "scratching my head" — although this is a less popular usage.

TFTF
"Thanks for the follow."

TIL
"Today I learned..."

TLDR or TL;DR
"Too long; didn't read." Can be used literally to indicate content that was too lengthy to wade through to the end. However, the term is more likely to be used in banter, or as a dismissive comment or insult.

TMB
"Tweet me back."

TQRT
"Thanks for the retweet."

TT
Translated tweet: a warning that an original tweet has been translated to a different language.

W/
"With."

What Really Went Down Between Me & Iyanya – Yvonne Nelson Comments

For sexy Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, heartbreak is a painful experience best avoided. Not exactly in the mood to relive her sensational breakup with popular Afro-hip hop act, Iyanya, she ended up doing so just to set the records straight like never before:

How are you enjoying your stay in Nigeria?

Did I tell you I’m half-Nigerian and half-Ghanaian? I was given a Nigerian name recently which makes me half-Nigerian. My Nigerian name is Damilola. It has been wonderful, I always say Nigeria is like a home for me. When I’m here, I do not feel like going back home again. But it’s just that everything seems to be faster here.

You are in the country to premiere your latest movie. What’s the movie all about?
The movie is titled, ‘House of Gold.’ It is a family-oriented comedy, and I want people to come and see two of Africa’s music stars Ice Prince and Omawumi make their debut in a movie. I produced the movie in partnership with Media Ghana.

“House of Gold” tells the story of Dan Ansah Williams, a high-flying entrepreneur, business mogul, polygamist and socialite who is battling with cancer and has six weeks to live. With the help of his long-time associate and legal representative, he embarks on a mission to recall all his children, most of whom were born out of wedlock, back home.

Dan’s last wish is to have all his children under one roof for seven days so they will get to know one another and bond due to the fact that they share the same blood line. However, that reunion proves a little more than everyone bargained for as each child indeed returns with an agenda, and this sets the stage for the most hilarious and bizarre seven days of their lives. I’m urging people to come and see the movie because they are going to laugh and have a nice time.

How did you get Ice Prince and Omawumi to star in the movie?
It was very challenging given the fact that they are busy people, always performing at shows. I have my own way of doing things. I spoke to them and they gave me their time and schedules, so I worked with it. We spent about 15 days on set.

Your first movie, ‘Single and Married’ was also directed by Paschal Amanfo, what do you have with him?
Paschal is one of the best directors in Ghana. He is a very straightforward director and it’s very easy working with him. You would like to work with somebody who helps make things go smoothly while on set.

What’s your experience like working with Ice Prince and Omawumi on set?
They were amazing on set. Ice Prince was the one who really shocked me because he had a show a night before joining us on set. He did not even sleep, as he took the next flight to Ghana and the moment he stormed the set, he started reading his script and mastering his lines. Omawumi was so good that I was tempted to ask her why she’s not into acting in Nigeria. I also had the funniest Nigerian actor,Francis Odega, on set.

Why did you decide to star the duo in your film?
It’s my own marketing strategy as a producer. I believe they have their own fan base and audiences. I wanted to spice up things. When you watch my movie, my cast are usually very interesting. People are sick and tried of seeing the same Nollywood and Ghollywood faces in our movies. I could have used notable Nollywood actors, but I just wanted to spice up things because I don’t think people are expecting what they are definitely going to see in the movie.

Controversies have been trailing your acting career in recent times; from your break-up with Iyanya to accusations that you bleached your body and more recently, an article posted online where you lamented that Iyanya used and dumped you. Why all these controversies?

Did anybody hear me say that? Nobody used and dumped me. As journalists, you should know that your colleagues are fond of using sensational headlines to drag traffic . At the end of the day, I did not say somebody used and dumped me. I don’t remember saying anything like that.

But what actually happened between you and Iyanya?
I guess it is out there. I granted two interviews on this whole thing; Check here. I don’t want to repeat myself. My interviewers took what they wanted to take away from the interviews I granted them. I don’t have any control over what they decide to publish or put out there.

You have moved on after the break-up?
It happened last year. The reason I granted those interviews was to let my fans know the truth about what transpired between Iyanya and myself. Sometimes, one’s fans desire to know what’s happening to their idol.

How do you address the allegations of lightening your skin?
Do I look like someone who is bleaching? One thing people should understand is that we use a lot of photo tricks. If you watch our movies, for instance, I look a little bit dark but if you see my pictures, I look fair in complexion. Commonsense should tell anyone that the pictures are treated. What happened is that I posted my new picture online and people started alleging that I was bleaching my skin. That’s how the whole thing started. My mum is fairer than me, and my siblings are all fair in complexion. I don’t bleach and I don’t intend lightening my skin.

Do you feel hurt each time you read negative stories about yourself?
I don’t. I don’t even know why they say all the things they say about me. To some people, if you tell them you can fly, they would believe in you. Whatever they read in the dailies, they believe in. It’s good for them. So, I can’t go into everybody’s home to tell them, “Look at me, I haven’t bleached before.” I’m happy with myself.

Are you in any relationship at the moment?
Not that fast. I’m now a “sacred virgin,” meaning you are not a virgin but after a long time, you become a sacred virgin. There are some special people in my life that I hang out with once in a while. But I’m not in any relationship at the moment. I just want to take my time. It’s not as if I’m looking for guys. I believe that when it is the right time, they will come looking for me.

But are you not thinking of settling down?
It’s something that I’m thinking about, but I just want to take my time. More so, I’m still young. However, if it comes my way, why not? But definitely, not with somebody in the entertainment industry.

Meaning that you wouldn’t want to date an entertainer again?
Not at all.

Is it because of your experience with Iyanya?
I guess everybody knows that. It was quite a shocking experience.

Even after your break-up with Iyanya, there were some tweets meant to be an apology to you from one of your contenders, Tonto Dikeh. How did you receive the tweets?

Like I said in my interview with Bella Naija, I hate a situation where you bring a third person into any relationship that I’m involved in. I don’t want to mention names. There are certain things I wouldn’t want to talk about here. I know that those tweets were actually meant for me. There is no problem. I hope she’s happy now because she did whatever she had to do. She advised me to move on, and I wish her good luck.

After reading your interviewyou first granted, we sought Iyanya’s reaction and he told us you were free to say whatever you wanted to say. Has it got to that extent?

Fine! You guys should go back and read the interview again. We are in a business where everybody is trying to protect his or her fan base. Most of his fans are women while my fans are basically men. So, I would do anything to protect my male fans just as he was trying to protect his female fans. He can’t run away from the truth. I decided to open up because I didn’t want to disappoint my male fans. I was ready to talk about it. And nobody could stop me from doing so.

FOUNDATION FOR EFFECTIVE PLANNING

So far, we have established that planning is the only way to give your goals a chance to be realized. Goals show what you want to achieve and when, while plans show how you intend to achieve them and with what resources. Without plans, even twice SMART goals are simply good intentions leading nowhere. Therefore, the strongest proof that you are serious about realizing your goals is not writing them down, but going a step further to develop plans for achieving them. Plans ensure that you regularly, consistently and repeatedly do those important things that ensure your success, no matter what else you do. Hence, the foundation for every plan is prioritization. So planning is a system for ensuring that you organize and execute activities around your priorities.

Everyone has priorities of some sort; we usually have a sense of what we believe is more important to us compared to other things. It is a known fact that we will readily give the best of our time, effort and resources to our priorities, so they infallibly indicate the direction in which our lives will go and what we have a chance of achieving. If you set twice SMART academic goals, but do not place priority on academics, you cannot achieve those goals. You can only achieve things you place priority on. You should therefore prioritize on those things that contribute the most to your personal life because your plans will move you further on in the direction of your priorities irrespective of what they are.

For instance, I knew students while on campus who placed much priority on leisure, fun, party etc., and expectedly, those were the things they succeeded at! Though they sometimes went to class, they often planned around these priorities, organized themselves around them and executed them repeatedly and regularly. They eventually became experts at those things; but what positive difference did that make in their personal life? Not much actually. Your priorities must reflect your highest positive values depending on the direction you want your life to go.

Your priorities are intrinsically unique to you and as a student; academics ought to be one of them. Think about this: what are those things that if you did regularly will make tremendous positive difference in your personal life? List them. Those are the things that should form your priorities! In my case for instance, my priorities included my spiritual relationship with God, my service of humanity, my academics, my financial education, my relationships and family, my health, hygiene and leisure, recreation etc. and these were the things reflected on my plan as shown in the previous post. Yours may be different; but must be a reflection of your highest values and beliefs. They are no right or wrong priorities, only what they lead you to.

Priorities also strengthen your decision making and your ability to say ‘No’ when necessary. For example, academics for me was of higher priority than leisure. So whenever there was a clash of both, it wasn’t hard to say ‘No’ to leisure and postpone it to a later date. Remember that your success is rooted in your ability to do things in order of importance; not in order of convenience, not even in order of urgency, but in order of importance. Prioritization and planning is the only system for ensuring that you always do the important things first.

In conclusion, goals are achieved through plans and plans are only as effective as the priorities they reflect. That’s why it’s important you decide what your priorities are and if you’d need to review them in order to achieve your goals more effectively. Reflect on what your priorities are, be sincere and original. Put it together in a list. You’ll need it in the next post.

Top Dating Tips for Women - What Men Really Want

If you're wondering how you can snag Mr. Right, there are a few key tips you should keep in mind while you're playing the dating game. Though it may not always seem like it, there really are a lot of great guys out there waiting for you. You may have read dating advice for women before, but these are some guidelines that are time tested and proven to work. If you've ever found yourself wondering what men really want, then this guide will have been written for you.

The most important tip will be to simply relax and be yourself. This may sound cliche, but you will be looking to form a lasting bond between the two of you. Eventually, you'll have to find something in one another that will truly click. The only way this can happen is if the two of you are honest about what you're looking to find in a relationship. There is no way you can fake a personality for the rest of your life, so you might as well let your true self shine during a date.

Another important one of these dating tips for women is to let things happen naturally over the course of a few dates. It may very well be true that men simply are afraid of commitment. But you can't change who they are inside, so your best bet will be to adapt your needs to meet his. Don't expect an exclusive relationship immediately. Rather, you should do your best to gently push things in that direction over time.

You should also be fairly open minded about the personalities of the men that you meet on dates. This is important dating advice for women because many have a rigid set of expectations of what a man should be like. But variety really is the spice of life, so take the personality quirks you see with a grain of salt. If a man has some strange interests that you've never heard of before, use this as a chance to learn something new about something you may never get the chance to hear about.

Finally, you don't have to be too forward on the first date to impress a man. Many are looking for relationships, not chances for hook-ups. Keep that in mind as the date progresses throughout the night. If you feel like moving forward, that will be up to you. This is one of the most important top dating tips for women, because it can often feel like walking a tightrope. But if you stay true to yourself and open minded, you will quickly find that you know what men really want to find when they date you

ASUP Suspends Strike

After 81 days of inactivity, polytechnic students across the country are expected to return to their classrooms as the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) suspends its strike today.

The ASUP Chairman, Dr. Chibuzor Asumogba, told Vanguard in a phone interview that the decision was made by the National Executive Committee of the Union as a result of the intervention of the Joint committee of the Senate and House of Representative on Education.
He said the union gave the government representatives one month to accede to their demands and release the white paper on the visitation panel to federal polytechnics.
The ASUP Chairman however, called on all lecturers to go back to work. “All lecturers are to resume work at their various institutions today”, He said.

Police Rescue 2 Chinese Nationals 2hrs After Kidnap In Ogun

Two Chinese nationals who were abducted on Monday near the Military Cantonment in  Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun, had been rescued by the police.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikemefuna Okoye, told newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday that the AIG Zone II, Mr Mamman Tsafe, had earlier informed his command of the abduction.

``I received the call just as we were rounding off our security meeting in Sagamu. I immediately ordered the Ogijo DPO to trace them because intelligence report had helped us know their direction.

``The DPO, SP Toyin Afolaogun, gave them a chase alone and was able to sight them at Sotubo village; he later got backups from the area commander in Sagamu.

``The kidnappers headed into a very thick forest where their den is located, not knowing that the police was behind them,’’ he said.

Okoye said that the kidnappers’ den, located about three kilometres off the Sagamu-Ikorodu expressway, was later surrounded by armed policemen.

He added that the situation led to an exchange of gunfire between the police and the kidnappers.

``After serious exchange of fire, we were able to rescue the two Chinese without a scratch, at about 3. 10 p.m.,” Okoye said.

He regretted that many of the kidnappers ran away with bullet wounds, adding that one was, however, caught, but with serious injuries.

Okoye also said that two locally made pistols, large quantities of live cartridges, a BMW car marked CK 737 LSD, were recovered from the suspects.

He solicited the cooperation of both orthodox and traditional medical practitioners in the effort to apprehend other suspects currently on the run with bullet wounds.

Okoye assured residents of the state of their security, saying that the police was in control of the situation. (NAN)

By on July 14, 2013
Giroud_Indonesia XIArsenal kicked off pre-season preparations, with a 7-0 hammering of a selected Indonesian side today.

Wenger made five changes after the break and seven minutes after, Chuba Akpom doubled the Gunners’ lead. Olivier Giroud also stepped up from the bench, to grab a fine brace in the space of three minutes, combining well with Bacary Sagna on both occasions.
Tomas Rosicky, also a second half substitute, was dictating play supremely for Arsene Wenger’s men and he was provider, as Lukas Podolski drilled in the fifth goal. Rosicky was also involved as Olsson tapped in, before Giroud set up Thomas Eisfeld to smash in the last goal.

Obama releases statement following Zimmerman not guilty verdict

The US president said:
“The death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Not just for his family, or for any one community, but for America. I know this case has elicited strong passions. And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken. I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities. We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that’s a job for all of us. That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin.”

Lesson from china

Lesson From China: Nigeria Must Exit World Trade Organisation

Odilim Enwegbara, a Development Economist has advised that Nigeria should depart from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to enhance tariffs that will encourage exportation rather than importation in the country.
Speaking on a myriad of economic issues  regarding President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to China on Channels TV Business Morning, the Economist argued that the Nigerian economy will only develop if the nation is industrialised.
He also advocated for the export of home-made goods rather than allowing all sorts of importation by being a member of WTO.
Lesson From China
The Economist claimed that Nigeria should seek more foreign loans to industrialise its economy, noting that Chinese economy grew in the last three decades by loans it used develop its people and infrastructure.
Mr Enwegbara further urged the Nigerian government to embrace relations with the Chinese, stating that, “every country that wants to reduce pollution looks at Nigeria’s Bonny light crude because it contains less carbon.”
He suggested that federal government should set-up a China Nigeria Bi-lateral Forum to comprehensively study how the Chinese Socialist-capitalist market works.
Such lessons according to him should include how to ensure the sustained role of government in the nation’s key economic sector such as power, banking and natural resources, as he discouraged outright privatisation of public parastals.
He also argued that 50 percent of Nigeria’s reserve should be changed into the Chinese Yuan.

political cultism and the RiverS Assembly cage fight

I would love to use the phrase “we are doomed!” but for my optimistic nature. We live in a country where our “leaders” come out to talk against corruption, but when they leave their office, they leave with their state treasury in their pockets. I never knew I was going to write on this today. I was actually writing on “revolution and Nigeria” when I came about the videos of the free for all fight that transpired in the Rivers State house of Assembly. It is pitiable, the situation we find ourselves in this country. When the so called leaders who advice the youths to shun violence, adding the catchy phrase that “cultism doesn’t pay” are avid members and sponsors of secret cult groups around our campuses and environment. These leaders who have sworn to protect us are the ones causing the mayhem and killing us. It is rather unfortunate that the hallowed chambers of a state House of Assembly will be turned into a ring likened to the WWE cage fight, but this time around, unlike the WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE show, there’s the option of “call your cult members” and the assembly men made sure they used it. I watched with utter dismay as a Hon. Member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, in the person of Hon. Evans Bipi, brought thugs to the House and kept chanting cult slangs notably “Aro Mate!” with them. It was even more saddening that the Deputy Governor of the state was there and could not do anything. I saw security operatives being challenged by the cultists in a brazen show of power, there has never been a more disturbing sight. I would love to use the phrase “we are doomed!” but for my optimistic nature. We live in a country where our “leaders” come out to talk against corruption, but when they leave their office, they leave with their state treasury in their pockets. We live in a country where everybody is a hypocrite. We live in a country where we see the evils being perpetrated by people in power, but we keep quiet for fear of being persecuted or killed. We live in a country where anything goes. Some years back, there was a fight in the National Assembly in full glare of the world, what a shame. It is high time we stood up and speak against what is wrong. We should stand up and make our voices heard, not because we want to get popular like most twitter activists, or that we want to get our political career back on track like irrelevant politicians now do. We should refuse to be taken for ride by these politicians, they should all go! We are on the brink, and silence or the “sidon look” attitude should be discouraged. Our future is being ruled and decided by cultists. Our Nigeria is being violated by criminal elements wearing Agbada, Jarabiya, etibor and red caps sitting in air conditioned offices. I watched with dismay as Hon. Chidi Lloyd, the leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly broke a mace — the symbol of authority on another assembly man’s head and the man was covered with blood. We need a complete overhaul of our politicians in Nigeria, from the PDP to the APC, from Sokoto to Rivers. We need politicians with character and not the touts sitting in air conditioned offices. We need politicians with heart not politicians who pledge allegiance to various secret cult groups. The time has come to speak up. There has never been a grander stage and there might never be a greater time for us to do that. We need people to steer our Nigeria from this ditch ahead, and neither the PDP nor recently formed APC can boast of the license to do just that. They say “evil doesn’t pay” well it pays 29 million naira per month in the senate, puts the whole state treasury in your pocket if you’re a governor. It is obvious that evil is now a job, and our politicians are the highest earners. Like Emma Goldman said, and I quote “People have only as much liberty as they have the intelligence to want and the courage to take.” Or like Fidel Castro said “A revolution is not a bed of roses. A revolution is a struggle between the future and the past.” Are we ready to stand up for our future? I am

30 PEOPLE DIE IN SOUTH AFRICA

Circumcision: 30 People Die In South Africa  print

Published on July 8, 2013 by   ·   1 Comment
Death related to the traditional circumcision in South Africa keeps increasing with another thirty people losing their lives at the weekend, a Cape Town health official has said.
Mr Mizwe Kupelo, Eastern Cape health department spokesman told journalists at a news conference on Sunday that  nearly 300 have been taken to various hospitals in the area.
“In the most recent case of botched circumcisions during the traditional initiation season, ten initiates were rescued from a forest in Mbizana on Sunday.
“The private parts of the ten initiates have become rotten as a result of the lack of proper medical attention. They have been badly damaged, and the condition of those affected is scary,’’ Kupelo said.
He, however, said the initiates were responding to treatment since their admission and expressed the hope that some would recover during stay in hospital.
“Records ahow that a total of 293 initiates are currently in various hospitals in the province recovering from dehydration, gangrene conditions, and septic wounds, just as some have lost their genitals,’’ Kupelo said.
The country’s ruling party, African National Congress (ANC) in a statement said the news of the  30 youngsters who died as a result of circumcision-related injuries in the Eastern Cape were “distressing’’.
“The African National Congress is deeply distressed by the news that yet more young lives have been tragically cut short in their prime through botched circumcisions.
“Authorities can no longer pay lip service to dealing with this disaster which afflicts our nation during the traditional initiation season,’’ Jackson Mthembu, ANC spokesperson said in the statement.
The ANC is appealing to traditional leaders, medical personnel, government and communities to work together to halt this “senseless and unnecessary loss of lives’’.
“Those given the responsibility over the lives of young men must be provided with basic medical training and accredited  to enable them identify early warning signs of imminent danger.”
“There has never been a greater urgency to act than now. Our nation cannot be allowed to wither and to be dealt such a blow of losing young men who have so much to offer to their families and our nation as whole,’’ Mthembu said.
A number of young South African male adults, during winter go to the mountain top for the traditional circumcision (initiation schools), which last for about two weeks.
At the initiation school they are taught about the tradition and what is expected of them as adults in the community Bur most of them die of infection due to non usage antibiotic and excessive bleeding.
In June no fewer than 29 people died, while in May another 27 people also died.
The South Africa Police Service (SAPS) said reports from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is being awaited before it goes ahead to arrest those involved in the illegal initiation practice

MORE FOR THOSE THAT USES PASSWORD ALOT!

Do You Use a Password Manager?

The best practice is to create a unique, complex password for every service you use. Unless you only use a handful of services, that practice becomes burdensome pretty quickly. Some people settle for reusing their password (or creating weaker, but easier-to-remember passwords) while others use a password manager to help them keep track. How about you?
We talk about passwords a lot here on Lifehacker. Using strong, unique passwords is one of those bits of advice that are often given and seldom heeded. Part of the reason is that good passwords can be hard to remember. That's where a password manager comes in handy—whether it's a Lifehacker favorite like LastPass, newcomer like Dashlane, or older favorite like KeePass. The best of them not only provide a secure place to record passwords, but also tools for generating them, auditing them, and even automatically signing in for you. So, how about you?

The love these ladies give to entertainers is amazing, i mean without having to say a word male artistes can get laid just by blinking.
Anyways, a hilarious photo has surfaced online. It’s a photo of a female fan trying to plant a kiss on singer Davido’s lips by force.
You can see the surprised Yoruba man expression on Davido’s face as the female fan stretched her lips to collect some smooches.

NO DEAL! LIVERPOOL TURNS DOWN ARSENAL 30 MILLION BID FOR SUREZ

No Deal! Liverpool Turns down Arsenal’s £30 Million Bid for surez

Luis Suarez.
Luis Suarez.
Arsenal’s bid for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez has been turned down by Liverpool, reports the BBC Sport. The Gunners have tabled a £30m bid for the striker, who has been the subject of several transfer speculations, but the Kops says no deal.
It is understood the English Premier League club had moved to sign the unsettled striker in their bid to land a top class forward to booster their title challenge next season as Gonzalo Higuain’s deal lingers on, but the Merseyside club remains adamant to let go of their prolific goalscorer.
Liverpool have refused to comment on the reports of Arsenal move, but the player’s future should become clearer by next month, when he’s expected to have returned for the pre-season.
Real Madrid has been the top contender in the pursuit of the 26-year-old Uruguayan, who has lashed out at the English Press in recent times, claiming he has been prejudiced by the media. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the striker who is presently counting down his ten-match ban for biting Blues’ defender Branislav Ivanovic.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers does not seem bothered by the speculations of an impending Anfield exit for Suarez as the striker has yet to submit a formal transfer request to the club.
Real are however expected to put the club’s resolve to the test by making a lucrative offer for Suarez in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dismissed speculation Higuain is about to join Arsenal by revealing the London club are yet to make an offer for the Argentina international.
“We don’t want Higuain to leave,”Perez told Univision. “What’s more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table.”
Higuain, who told the media on the final day of the Spanish Primera Division season that he was going to leave Madrid in the summer, was reported to be on the verge of a £23m move to the Emirate Stadium

UNILAG saga: My story - Why I charge 5 million per Show – Wizkid

 …Says he hasn’t dumped EME…
Becoming a celebrity comes with a lot of challenges and this is a fact, hip-hop star, Ayo Balogun, a.k.a Wizkid, has found out the hard way. Recently, an impostor, impersonating him defrauded his UNILAG fans, prompting the police to invite him(Wizkid) for questioning. The Pepsi ambassador has since shrugged off the experience, but he’s on a mission to ensure it does not repeat itself. In this interview with SHOWTIME CELEBRITY, the artiste talks about his UNILAG saga, fame, new record label and more. Enjoy!

What really happened between you and the UNILAG students. You were accused of duping them?

By now, I think all is clear that there are some people parading themselves as either Wizkid or his managers. The unfortunate incident regarding the UNILAG students is a case of mistaken identity where people fell victim to some unscrupulous elements who impersonated me or my representatives. The same people, as we have come to know, went as far as creating fake accounts in my name to dupe people.

I just don’t really want to talk much  about it. There are processes involved in booking Wizkid for shows.  If you want to book Wizkid for a show or anything of the sort, you go to Empire Mates Entertainment, EME, which is my label or you talk to my manager, Godwin Tom. Those  are the main channels to reach me if you want to book me for a show. So,if you’ve been chatting with the Wizkid on the social media and he has  promised to do something or charges you money, I want you to know that Wizkid never charges anybody or does his business directly. I don’t discuss price, I don’t talk about anything like that. I allow my management and my label to handle my business. So, nobody talks directly to me concerning payments.

How did you come about the UNILAG palaver?

Basically, the police just called us to inform us of the development. We can’t really give full details because we were invited to come to the police station and we went as law abiding citizens. When we got there, we gave our own statement as well as the students. But we really can’t say anything now until the police have done their proper investigations. But with the details on ground, what  we want you to know is that the so-called Wizkid the students have been contacting is fake and an impostor. It’s really not from me or from anybody around me.

Do you have a procedure for booking you for shows?

Yes, we do. My manager is going to give the proper details, proper emails, the  right phone numbers and other things needed. We are going to definitely make that known. We are going to give full details, so, you will have it. It’s a  simple process. Either you contact me or you contact EME directly. But even when you contact me, the whole procedure is that I will direct you to the booking office as well.
It is simple. You send your request via email or you can call us and send us your email address. The booking office would contact you from the email address you have provided with a booking questionnaire. The booking questionnaire seeks information about your event, venue details as well as publicity activities, what you intend to do and other special requests. We don’t really want to give more details so that the impostors would not continue with their fraudulent activities.

The email you are talking about that all bookings comes through, is it the same email every communication comes to?

No. If you have contacted anybody regarding a Wizkid show, paid and we do not show up for the event or you do not contact the right people; provide the bank account details, provide the email correspondence. If there was a contract, provide the contract – that is as simple as it gets. We are not fighting with anybody. We sympathise with the students who have been duped, but for you to do it properly, for you to get the best information that you need, it is important  to provide the necessary information.

In this case, what do you think really happened regarding the procedure?

We are letting the police do their job. We have nothing to say because we know very well that we were not the ones they contacted. So, we are not worried. What we are concerned  about is to stop others from being duped by these impostors.

What was your first reaction when you heard the news?

I felt so bad. I just went to my Twitter account and tweeted the normal people to contact if you want to book a show with Wizkid. Let’s be realistic. Everybody saw my hustle and watched me grow. When I dropped   “Holla Your Boy”, I was much younger and wasn’t charging up to N5 million  for shows. This is just playing out and it is simple.

So, how much do you charge now?

N5 million is okay for my show. But let’s just put things right. It is so bad to my company’s name and my name as well. That is why I  decided to open up on this issue.
 Wizkid-c
What is your relationship with EME at teh moment?

We are doing great, we have been having meetings. Going back and forth, evolving new plans to make EME one of the best record labels, not just in Nigeria but also, in Africa . Everyone is in the studio. Banky W. shot a couple of videos recently. We were at the video shoot last week; we are still working.

There is this rumour that you are no longer with EME?

I have just released an album in collaboration with Wizkid and EME. “Starboy” is my new company, EME is still there for me. “Starboy” is Wizkid’s new record label and I have a couple of producers that are working with me in the new company. Definitely, we are working with a lot of people. Banky W and I, started way back. Our dreams have always been to build an empire, to help more people and give them that platform to showcase their talents. And all these dreams cannot happen only with one person.
So, we have to branch out and reach out to more people. The industry is really big and there are more than 5 million kids out there roaming about the street and looking for a platform to showcase their talents. We want to give them the platform to do that. So, as you can see, everyone can contribute to that. Now that “Starboy” has started, we thank God, we are doing well. Anybody can start up something. That is just what we are trying to do with EME.

Have you released the track list of your latest album?

Yes, I have done that. I featured Olamide, D’banj and Banky W. The album is ready right now. But we are just putting some finishing touches to it. We will be having a listening party of the album very soon and we are going to announce that as soon as it is ready. We are planning for that. The album is coming out very strong and I thank God that I have put all the necessary things in place. I have a very strong belief that the album is going to win awards.

How long have you known Mallic?

I have known him for quit some time now, about a year and some couple of months. We just talk about business and nothing more. But we took out time and planned something good and we are working on actualising that. This is what I am saying about branching out, giving people platforms to perform. So, I have to give a lot of people that platform. What we are doing together is to set the standard and lead the way for people to follow.

Would you say that his production input has redefined your music?

Of course, and everybody he has worked with. Even he produces Afrobeat  sometimes. Nobody knows it all. We also produced in the UK, so, it was like me working with him. We are still learning, it is a process. No one knows it all.

There is this rumour making the rounds  that you have replaced your accidented Porsche car. Is it true?

Yes, that is absolutely true. We thank God for that. We thank Him for sparing my life. This is not the first time I’ve had such an encounter. That doesn’t mean I am a freak, but I needed to be mobile. I was moving around with a taxi all through the duration of the accident which is not proper.

Wizkid
Wizkid
A whole lot of people have been blowing the accident out of proportion. But how bad was it?

Well, I don’t really like talking about the bad side of things. I believe that at some point in life, we all have to learn something good about life, something that would help our life in the future. When I had that accident I was like, I had to check myself and know the things I am not doing right. My mind told me that anything I am doing, I have to do it faster. I was like, if the world had ended that day, what would I have done. I thanked God for keeping me alive to testify his goodness. I made a promise to myself to never get down because of the accident. So, life must go on, no matter what it takes.

How has your evolution in the musical world been?

It has been massive. I have learnt so much and I have worked with so many legends. It is really mind- blowing. For me, I feel so excited. I am still learning and striving to get to the top. When I look back to where I started, I see a lot of accomplishments. That’s what normally comes to my mind. I also feel blessed, but it goes with a lot of responsibilities. You know, everything is for a while. It is the legacy that you built while you were there that lasts. So, I try as much as possible to leave a legacy so that even when I am not here, people will not forget my name easily.

What really prompted you to do a ‘collabo’ with Femi Kuti?

Yes, a lot of people never expected that. People think Wizkid talks only about girls, cars  and some flashy things in his music, but I don’t. All I talk about in my music is true life story. When I decided to do “Jayejaye” with Femi, I just really wanted to pass a message of  what Wizkid wants to be or  ways you can be like Wizkid. I still have not done anything, but people think I have done many things. I don’t think I have done a lot, I am still learning. The “Jayejaye” music was just to bridge the gap between the old and the young people. A big shout out to Femi Kuti for giving me the chance to do that track with him. I called him a day before we recorded the track and he allowed me. So, I am just saying a big thank you.

So, what should fans expect from your forthcoming album?

They should expect everything magical. We have put in a lot of work and we are just hoping that everyone likes the album. I have been in the studio for weeks and even months now. I can’t wait for the album to be released. I hope everybody will like the album. I have just put in a lot of hard work.

It’s like you have a passion for flashy cars?

No, I don’t think so. A lot of people drive more flashy  cars than I do, even in the entertainment industry. I really don’t think like that. After the accident , I had no other car to drive around. Believe it or not, I moving around with  a taxi and I didn’t like that.  I don’t think that amounts to having passion for flashy cars.  What about people in government that spend so much money on cars? I worked hard to make my money, so I need to use it well. If someone works hard for his money and decides to spend it for his pleasure, I don’t think it is a bad idea.

How do you feel  reading stories of some artistes who cannot fend for themselves when they grow old?

I have to learn from them and know how to make savings. If I am not learning from people that came before, then what am I  doing? It’s not that anybody is wishing anybody bad, but we must learn and plan ahead
